Godrej Surfactants

Godrej is a pioneer in manufacturing and developing applications of Alfa Olefin Sulfonate (AOS). AOS is effective in a variety of applications in industries ranging from home and personal care to polymers, oil fields and construction chemicals. Godrej Surfactants are one of the best and globally acclaimed chemical products. Godrej Surfactants are an inevitable chemical substance also in the area of pharmaceuticals. Godrej Surfactants are very useful for home care industry. The company also produces fatty Alcohol based Surfactants that are used extensively in the home and personal care industry. Various Sodium Lauryl Sulphates (SLS) and Sodium Lauryl Ether Sulphates (SLES) are used in Detergents, Toilet Soaps, Toothpaste, Pharmaceuticals, Shampoo, Hand wash etc.

Wide range of Godrej Surfactants products available at Gravity Chemicals and Specialities.

Surfactant has another adjective related to the surface, also known as the surfactant surface active agent. When surfactant is added to a liquid, it reduces its surface tension, thereby increasing its diffusion and moisturizing properties. By nature, it is another substance like surfactant detergent.

The surfactant has a variety of functions. The main functions are (1) reduce the surface tension at the air-liquid inter face, thereby preventing alveolar collapse in the final stage. (2) Interacting with the germs, killing the subsequent germs, and (3) modulating the immune response.

In fact, what is a surfactant and how many types of surfactants are available: There are generally four different types of surfactants, ionic, non-ionic, cationic and amphoteric respectively. Although, they may look similar, these surfactants differ in structure and polarity. Surfactants, also known as surface activating agents, are used to reduce the surface tension between liquids.

In addition to reducing surface and inter facial stress and insoluble solvents, surfactants have several other useful properties.

  • Emulsifying or dispersing force
  • Wet
  • Foaming
  • Power suspension/stabilization

Synthetic or petrochemical feed stocks are actually made from oil, gas and chemical reagents. The resulting chemicals, synthetic alcohol, can be further processed or reacted to produce a range of different types of surfactant molecules (including alkylation, ethoxylation or sulfation )

Types of Surfactants

  • Anionic Surfactants. Anionic surfactants have a negative charge on their hydrophilic end.
  • Non-ionic Surfactants. Non-ionic surfactants are neutral; they do not have any charge on their hydrophilic end.
  • Cationic Surfactants.
  • Amphoteric Surfactants
