Alkyd primer is an enamel finish that is often similar to oil paints. Sometimes artists in the field of paintings often confuse oil paint with alkyd primers.  The surface used for this is different; alkyd primer is not commonly used on walls, but on metal or wood. Its nature is a bit harsh; alkyd paint is harder than oil-based paint. There are those who believe that alkyd primer is based on oil or water. However, the former form of paint is alkyd primer. This is commonly known as oil based paint, this paint is usually made of three components: Light weight, binder, pigment.  Alkyd primers are thinner and usually made from alcohol or mineral spirits, such as alkyd primers.
